SUPERIOR, Wis. (June 30, 2020) – Lake Assault Boats, a leading manufacturer of purpose-built and mission-specific patrol, rescue, and fireboats, has delivered a 22-foot craft to the Flower Mound Police Department located northwest of Dallas, Texas. The vessel will provide patrol and emergency response services on Grapevine Lake, a 20-mile long reservoir situated along much of the western edge of the city of Flower Mound.

The Flower Mound craft is a modified “V”, rigid hull inflatable boat (RHIB) featuring an 8-foot 6-inch beam and an overall height less that 13-feet 6-inches (while on a trailer and attached to a tow vehicle). It weighs in at approximately 3,100 lbs. and has a person and cargo capacity of 2,000 lbs. The aluminum alloy hull and superstructure are MIG and TIG welded throughout, including both sides of all water seams. An inflatable air collar is attached to all sides of the craft to provide 360-degree protection.
The vessel is powered by a single Suzuki 200 hp outboard motor with a stainless steel prop, power trim and tilt, and a fuel management system. A T-top pilothouse offers 82-inches of interior clearance, a padded leaning post and lockable storage box, and a Sunbrella™ fabric top for sun and rain protection. The dash console provides ample room for electronics, throttles, and switches.
The boat’s draft is no greater than 12-inches when the motors are trimmed up and 18-inches when trimmed down. “It’s ideal for shallow water operation, but can also maneuver in rough conditions,” added Beck.
The Flower Mound Police Department is comprised of 216 personnel, including 104 officers. Flower Mound was named the number one Safest City in Texas with a population over 50,000 by The Home Security Advisor, and the safest city in Texas by safehome.org.
