Versatile craft features modified V-hull design and a top speed of 45 knots.

SUPERIOR, Wis. (Nov. 26, 2018) – Lake Assault Boats, part of Fraser Shipyards and a leading manufacturer of purpose-built, mission-specific craft, is showcasing a 24-foot patrol, rescue, and dive vessel at booth #3675 on November 28-30 at the International WorkBoat Show in New Orleans, Louisiana. Representatives from Lake Assault Boats’ parent company, Fraser Industries, will be on hand to provide news and answer questions regarding the expansion of their operations on the shores of Lake Superior.

“The design of this 24-foot patrol, dive and rescue vessel is generating very positive feedback and we could not be more thrilled; the need out there for a versatile, easy to operate and value priced craft is driving its success and helping us achieve in 2018 one of our largest ever year-over-year sales increases,” said Chad DuMars, Lake Assault Boats Vice President of Operations. “The vessel is extremely stable, can be operated by a single person, and is able to be customized to meet unique emergency response challenges. We’re very excited to showcase and explain its many benefits at the International WorkBoat Show.”

The Lake Assault Boats craft on display is a modified V-hull design with a center console T-top configuration that is powered by twin Honda 200-hp outboards, making the vessel excellent for fast shallow water response. The highly maneuverable, lightweight design is able to operate in as little as 12 inches of water – ideal for first responders addressing a wide range of water conditions. A similar configuration was recently purchased by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) to enforce commercial and sport fisheries laws as well as emergencies on Lake Superior.

The craft also features a boat weight of only 3,600 lbs. and a combined boat and trailer weight of approximately 5,100 lbs. With its twin Honda outboard engines, the vessel is capable of speeds in excess of 45 knots. Manufactured from high-strength marine grade aluminum, the hull and superstructure are MIG and TIG welded throughout for added strength and long life. It features a Gilman foam collar system around the gunwales to prevent damage, a large open deck, a T-top helm station (with two shock mitigating seats that allow the operators to either stand or sit), a centrally-located operator’s position for excellent visibility, and an overhead waterproof electronics box.

“The International WorkBoat Show is North America’s top commercial marine industry event, and we’re looking forward to meeting customers and making new connections at the exposition as well as at the conference’s excellent lineup of working sessions,” added DuMars.
